MMO- 2 1/2 year olds
_ Upon arrival the children engage in free play and exploration for the first 15 minutes. At 9:15am the children then participate in a short circle time with music, movement, and literacy activities.
After circle time the children participate in a planned one-on-one activity at the project table while the others continue to explore and participate in free play of learning centers that build skills in a developmentally appropriate manner. The centers change from day to day and week to week and include activities such as dramatic play, cooking projects, manipulatives, puzzles, play dough, art, water table filled with tactile objects, blocks, books, etc.
At 10:00 am the children help to clean up and prepare for snack which teaches responsibility and cooperation. The children enjoy snacks brought in by the parents on a rotating basis. The sharing of snack is an opportunity to work on social skills. After snack the children have recess on an enclosed playground which provides a safe and exciting outdoor experience.
The children return to the classroom for quite story time, continuation of learning centers, and the completion of the activity at the project table. To close, the children gather for one last time at the end of the day for brief goodbyes.
Note: Children participating in the MMO program do not have to be toilet trained, however, all children must be ready to participate in toilet training and must wear pull-ups to school.
